The Bannerettes will face #14 Samantha Stosur & Zhang Shuai, who defeated #7 Desirae Krawczyk/Alexa Guarachi today, in the final. The veteran duo won the '19 Australian Open together, and Stosur will be looking to add more hardware to what could turn out to be a Hall of Fame career. The Aussie has won singles, doubles and mixed slam crowns in her career, and is looking for her eighth overall major title.

Two more teenagers advance to a final at the #USOpen, McNally/Gauff. They will face Stosur/Zhang who are currently on a 10-match winning streak ??
Meanwhile, later in the day, Krawczyk rebounded well, joining with Joe Salisbury to defeat Jessie Pegula/Austin Krajicek to reach their second MX slam final together this season. They teamed to win Paris, then Krawczyk played Wimbledon with Neal Skupski and won it, too... defeating Salisbury and Harriet Dart in the final. The last woman to win 3/4 of a season's mixed titles was Martina Hingis in 2015. You'd have to go back to 1985 (Martina Navratilova) for the most recent time it happened before that. They'll face Giuliana Olmos & Marcelo Arévalo in the final.

Robin Montgomery advances to the @usopen Junior Girls' Singles final! pic.twitter.com/lzEecyYJkY
...the girls' singles final was set on Day 12, and #7 Robin Montgomery will attempt to become the seventeenth different Bannerette to win the title, and the third ('16 Kayla Day, '17 Amanda Anisimova) in the last six years. She defeated Argentina's Solana Sierra in three sets today. She'll see #6-seeded Belarusian Kristina Dmitruk (def. Sebastianna Scilipoti 1 & 2) in the final.
Washington DC’s Robin Montgomery knocks out top girls’ seed Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in the #USOpen quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-2.
— Ben Rothenberg (@BenRothenberg) September 9, 2021
I wrote about her last year for @NYTSports when she made her US Open debut at 15.https://t.co/HR4IRC0eiJ
Dmitruk will try to become the fourth girls singles slam winner from Belarus, and the first at Flushing Meadows since Victoria Azarenka in 2005. Azarenka also won the AO junior title that season, while Vera Lapko won in Melbourne in 2016. #1-seeded Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva & Ane Mintegi del Olmo defeated Brenda & Linda Fruhvirtova 6-4/7-6(3) in their girls doubles QF match. They lost in the SF to #3-seeded Montgomery & Ashlyn Krueger, though. The Bannerettes will face another all-U.S. duo in the final, as #8 Reese Brantmeier & Elvina Kalieva upset #6 Alex Eala & Hanne Vandewinkel. ...in the wheelchair semis, #1 Diede de Groot allowed just a single game in a 6-1/6-0 win over countrywoman Aniek Van Koot, while #2 Yui Kamiji defeated Jordanne Whiley, 6-1/6-3. It'll be the fifth straight U.S. Open final meeting between de Groot and Kamiji, and the eleventh to decide a slam champion in their career series. De Groot leads 8-2 in their slam final match-ups (winning seven straight), and 23-15 overall (but 21-4 in the last 25). De Groot will be playing in the final for the 15th time in the last 17 majors (11-3). If de Groot wins she'll complete the first Golden Slam (4 majors + Paralympics) ever in wheelchair singles. Aussie Dylan Alcott is also seeking to complete a Golden Slam, and is into the men's Quad WC semifinals.
Chatted with Dylan Alcott & Diede de Groot today about chasing the Golden Slam at #usopen.

Loved this from Diede about playing in NYC after the Paralympics (new for the wheelchair tour): 'It's almost like eating dessert & having something else after.' https://t.co/BMjXVUIShT
De Groot & Van Koot will play in the doubles final against Kamiji & Whiley. One of the four women have claimed or shared the U.S. Open doubles title in every competition since 2013.

...HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE ON DAY 12:
I feel like this undersells it, though.
— Ben Rothenberg (@BenRothenberg) September 10, 2021
Hingis was #1 and Serena was #7 at the 1999 #USOpen, that final wasn't much of a shock at all.
Having a final between two teens ranked #73 and #150 is a whole different kettle of oat milk.

...MEANWHILE, BACK HOME... ON DAY 12:
This is how big the @EmmaRaducanu story is in the UK right now: it's the first story across all BBC news bulletins on the hour, and today's topic on the two-hour phone-in show on @bbc5live: "Has Emma given you the tennis buzz?" A huge moment for British sport, and women's tennis

...EYEROLLING... ON DAY 12:
...when ESPN continues to dutifully report to everyone who "the oddsmakers" favor in the women's final. Yeah, and I'm sure they had Fernandez and Raducanu favored to win the majority (any?) of their matches over the last two to four rounds, too, right? Alright.
